It’s interesting how I can feel so happy but not at all satisfied at once. I called my mom from a weeklong course I attended in Sweden, with
writer Iris Johansson on living with autism.
-Mom, there is definitely something wrong with me.
-Yes darling, I’ve known that all along, probably ADHD, she replied without hesitation.
I laughed at my mom’s quick reply. I’ve never been good at sitting still and my mind spins fast. It can be hard at times not being able to enjoy my own company, but I’m glad because it has kept me moving forward. I bring my camera on all my traveling and I am very aware of my surroundings. I live and breathe the mountains, this is where my thoughts gets clear. I always have time to go hiking.
My photography focuses on documentary and portraits. I enjoy working in black and white and hope to work again on film and in the darkroom in the future. Taking images is a result of my cravings. I search for feelings and moments, and I need to go and capture them. It´s a great feeling when I manage to take a good portrait, to realize I caught the inside of a person as well their outside! I live and work in a small village of 2000 people, and somehow I get surprised all the time. Of the people living here, the nature, and the biggest surprise of all, the weather. The combination is really exciting.
I will work towards and I hope to continue documenting different lifestyles that people choose, or are forced to live.
